FAQs

  • I use practice rooms in the middle of Stroud, OwnZone on Lansdown, and in the middle of Cheltenham, 51a Rodney Road.

  • My fee for individual psychotherapy is £75 per session, I do use a sliding scale dependent income.

  • Each session is 50 minutes long. The number of sessions varies depending on the individual case. Occasionally it might be appropriate to do brief work for 10 – 12 sessions, more typically it may be a year, or two years, or longer if needed.

  • I usually work during term times only, taking breaks in line with school terms. During the longer summer break it may be possible to have sessions towards the beginning or end of the holiday, if required.

  • It is best to see clients out of the school context, unless I have been employed by the school, but I am happy to talk to school staff when appropriate.

  • I am able to offer sessions on Zoom with clients over the age of 10, but find that in-person sessions are preferable to most clients.

  • It’s hard to be certain, but the initial consultation process, including an introductory free phone conversation help to make that decision.

  • Psychodynamic therapy is an approach that looks beneath the surface of verbal, non-verbal, communication and how the client relates to the therapist and the events in their life, to gain understanding of deeper-rooted issues that may be preventing a child, young person (or adult) from being able to receive the normal support that helps people out of emotional difficulty. That understanding, and the presence of a therapist alongside them, who has a rigorous and lengthy training in listening, observing and reflecting, can be of immeasurable help for those who are feeling stuck and unable to make the changes they want to make.

  • Psychotherapy sessions are bound by confidentiality unless there is a safeguarding concern, in which case, sharing information would be discussed with the client.
