MY WORK WITH SCHOOLS

Schools are uniquely positioned to have insight into the lives and minds of young people. They see them grapple with new learning and with the ever-expanding social world. As such, schools often notice that a child is struggling: whether it is an inability to focus during lessons, difficulties with transitions, isolation or conflict on the playground, or simply a change in how a young person copes with the everyday challenges of school.

However, it is hard to set aside the time to explore what is really going on for that child, or find the best way to help them.

HOW I CAN HELP

As a former teacher, and more recently a family support worker based in schools, I can provide consultation on how best to support particular children and their families. My assessments are rooted in years of experience of working in schools,  with a wide variety of children, as well as bringing my understanding of developmental and psychodynamic approaches to cognitive, social and emotional issues.

Once an assessment is done, based on classroom/ playground observations, sessions with the child, and conversations with teachers and parents, I can provide a range of therapeutic interventions, or offer staff support to think about how to best provide for the child or young person’s needs.

This is a bespoke service and fees will depend on the level and length of the consultation.
